What are SuperEar® devices?
SuperEar® personal sound amplifiers (PSAPs) are easy-to-use, high-quality assistive listening devices designed to enhance environmental sound. They support clearer communication during patient interactions, group conversations, clinical assessments, and daily activities.
Are SuperEar® devices considered medical hearing aids?
No. SuperEar® products are Personal Sound Amplification Products (PSAPs), not medical hearing aids. They are intended to amplify environmental sound for individuals who want a general volume boost, not to treat hearing loss. This makes them ideal for bedside communication, temporary use, or situations where hearing aids are unavailable.
How can SuperEar® devices support clinical or hospital workflows?
SuperEar® is designed to help overcome communication barriers that often occur in busy or noisy healthcare environments. Studies from Johns Hopkins researchers show that untreated hearing difficulties can impact patient-provider communication, satisfaction, adherence, and outcomes. SuperEar® devices offer an immediate, low-cost way to improve clarity during instructions, assessments, and discharge conversations.
Do SuperEar® devices help with Accesibility Canada Act (ACA) compliance?
SuperEar® PSAPs can be used as auxiliary aids in certain contexts to support accessibility and communication, providing institutions with a simple, low-cost tool to help meet accommodation needs.
